A man got frustrated with failure in life despite all his efforts. He asked a wise man, “Give me one good reason not to quit?”
“Look”, the wise man said, pointing towards some plantation. “Do you see that bamboo tree there? “Yes”, the man nodded.
“When I planted the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. Despite my efforts, nothing happened in the first year, and then the second year, there was no sign of growth. I did not give up and continued to water and nurture it, year after year. By the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. And within six months, the tree grew a hundred feet tall.”
“So, do you think the Bamboo tree only started growing in the fifth year?” the wise man asked.
Baffled by the question the man thought hard, and said, “The little tree was growing underground, developing a foundation root system strong enough to support its potential for the amazing growth in the fifth year and beyond.”
“All the time you had been struggling, you were growing strong roots too,” remarked the wise man.
